What are driver certifications and how do I get one?

Some Gigs and/or Senders require you to have certifications before you can be matched to them. Below you will find a list of certifications, what they mean, and how you can get one.

Certifications:

  • Cargo Trailer
  • Extra Equipped
  • TSA Certification

Cargo Trailer

Some Senders require trailers for oversized Gigs. Oversized Gigs typically consist of either long-dimension items or heavy items, such as lawnmowers or large timber. To ensure the Driver has enough vehicle space for the delivery and the ability to load and unload these items safely, Senders may require trailers. In the Roadie app, the Delivery Options will indicate if a trailer is required.

DRIVER TRAILER VERIFICATION PROCESS

Prior to receiving the Cargo Trailer certification, Drivers must provide images of their trailer for review.

Drivers can submit these images via a Typeform link in the Roadie app in one of two ways:

  1. Through the Gig Tag. This tag (and the button within) is visible even after the Driver has the certificate on their profile.
  2. When submitting an offer. When a Driver without the Cargo Trailer certification submits an offer and selects “I have a trailer,” we’ll ask for proof. Tapping “add proof” will show the Typeform.

Once the Typeform has been submitted by the Driver, the Roadie Team will review it.

Extra Equipped

Some Senders require extra equipment for Oversized Gigs. Oversized Gigs needing extra equipment typically consist of either long-dimension items or heavy items, such as electronics or appliances. To ensure the Driver has the ability to load and unload these items safely without assistance, Senders may require extra equipment.

Extra Equipment that may be required:

  • Dolly or cart
  • Ramps, trailer, straps, blankets

DRIVER EXTRA EQUIPPED VERIFICATION PROCESS

Prior to receiving the Extra Equipped certification, Drivers must provide images of their equipment for manual review by the Roadie Team.

Drivers can submit these images via a Typeform link in the Roadie app. This link is available by clicking the “Complete Requirement” button on Gigs that require extra equipment. If a driver already has the certification, they will see “Submit Offer” instead.

Once the Typeform has been submitted by the Driver, the Roadie Team will review it.

Roadie TSA Certification

TSA regulations require trained and screened Drivers for any Gig being delivered to an airport cargo facility.

Requirements to become a TSA Certified Driver:

  • TSA Training
  • TSA Screening
  • Documentation for TSA (license, work authorization)

DRIVER TSA CERTIFICATION VERIFICATION PROCESS

Prior to receiving TSA certification, Drivers must be approved upon manual review by the Roadie Team. Due to limited volume and regulations by the TSA, there is currently a waitlist for TSA certification.

If a TSA Gig becomes available in your area, you may submit your information to the Typeform link in the Roadie app. A Roadie Team member will contact drivers as needed.
