Electronic Delivery
If you earned at least $600 total on the Roadie App in a tax year, you will receive a Form 1099-NEC from Roadie. The IRS requires Roadie to get your consent in order to provide you your 1099-NEC statement electronically instead of sending a paper copy. Otherwise, under IRS rules, we must send your Form 1099-NEC by regular US mail and will not be responsible if it is not received by you in time to file your taxes.
To consent to receive only an electronic copy of your Form 1099-NEC you must opt in by visiting the Tax Information tab in your Gig History on the Driver Dashboard. This will also be where you can download the electronic copy of your Form 1099-NEC. There is no cost to you. A device with an internet connection/Wi-Fi is required for download. You can access your statement using any Windows or Apple (Mac) system. The statement is in Adobe's PDF format so you must also be able to open PDF files on your system. You can download a free copy of Adobe's PDF reader here.
You can download your 1099 directly from the app, head to the app menu, and tap Gig History, you’ll see the Tax Information section where you can get your documents. Click on the arrow to download documents.
Mail Delivery
If you do not consent by not selecting the OPT-IN button above, your Form 1099-NEC will be mailed to the preferred address listed in your Driver profile. Please make sure that your address is up to date no later than January 10th so that your Form 1099-NEC can be mailed to the correct address. If you are no longer completing Roadie Gigs or have closed your account, you are still responsible for providing Roadie with a valid address no later than January 10th. You may update your address here.
Your Form 1099-NEC will be available on your account page until at least October 15th of the year the 1099-NEC was issued to you. After this date, your 1099-NEC may no longer be available from your account page. If you opted into electronic delivery of your documents, but still want a paper copy, please contact us here or via email at support@roadie.com before January 10th and we will provide you a paper copy at no cost to you.
Your consent will remain in effect until you notify us in writing of your desire to withdraw it. A withdrawal will be effective on the date it is received by Roadie, which we will confirm in writing. The withdrawal will only be effective for those tax forms not yet issued. To withdraw your consent please send your written request here.

FAQs
Will I get a 1099-NEC from Roadie?
1099-NEC tax forms are based on how much you earned on the Roadie App from January 1st to December 31st in a given year.
If you earned at least $600 total on the Roadie App for the entire year, you will receive a 1099-NEC tax form from Roadie.
If you earned less than $600 on the Roadie App, you will not receive a 1099-NEC form, but you are still responsible for reporting those earnings.
How will I receive my 1099-NEC?
If you have consented to electronic delivery, the electronic copy of your Form 1099-NEC will be available for download in the Tax Information section under Gig History on your account page. If you have not consented to electronic delivery of your 1099-NEC, Roadie will mail your Form 1099-NEC to the preferred address listed in your Driver profile on or before January 10th.
Will I receive a W2?
Drivers are independent contractors and therefore will not receive a W2.
What do I do if I don’t get my 1099-NEC online or by mail?
First, check the Tax Information section under Gig History on your account page to make sure your 1099-NEC is not available for download. If there is no 1099-NEC available for download on your account page, it may be because you did not make at least $600 in earnings on the Roadie App during the year. Please contact Roadie Customer Support at support@roadie.com if you have any additional concerns.
If I’m not going to receive a 1099-NEC, do I still need to file taxes for my Roadie earnings?
Yes. Even if you don’t receive a 1099-NEC, you’ll still need to file taxes for the money you earned from the Roadie App during the year. Please see your Gig History to find the relevant information needed to file your taxes.
Can I deduct my mileage and other expenses?
While we are experts at on-the-way delivery in the Gig economy, we are not tax experts, and we advise you to speak with a tax professional to make sure you are on the right track.
How is my Mileage Log calculated?
Roadie’s Mileage Log shows the mileage from pickup to drop-off for the Gigs you’ve completed, including return Gigs.
Will I need Roadie’s EIN (Employer Identification Number) to file my taxes?
Roadie Drivers are not employees, so you do not need Roadie’s EIN to file your tax return.
How are my total earnings calculated?
We calculate your total earnings for the tax year by subtracting out any parking and toll reimbursements given to you in the year, from the total payouts you received in that year. Please note: the total earnings shown in your Gig History will include the complete payout, including parking and toll reimbursements.
